Publication Ethics
ICATT Journal of Islamic Studies, published by the Ikatan Cendekiawan Alumni Timur Tengah, is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement is based on widely recognized international standards, including the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Ethical Principles
All parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—are expected to adhere to ethical standards, ensuring integrity, transparency, and accountability in scholarly publishing.
2. Duties of Authors
Authors must:
- Submit original and unpublished work that is not under consideration elsewhere.
- Ensure proper citation of sources and avoid plagiarism in all forms.
- Accurately present data without fabrication, falsification, or inappropriate manipulation.
- Disclose any conflicts of interest that may influence the research.
- Ensure that all listed authors have made significant contributions to the work.
- Immediately notify the editor of any significant errors discovered after publication and cooperate in correction or retraction.
3. Duties of Editors
Editors are responsible for:
- Making publication decisions based on the manuscript’s scholarly merit, originality, and relevance.
- Ensuring a fair, unbiased, and confidential review process.
- Evaluating manuscripts without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, ethnicity, or political views.
- Avoiding conflicts of interest in handling submissions.
- Taking appropriate action in cases of ethical violations, including corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern.
4. Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers should:
- Provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations of manuscripts.
- Maintain confidentiality of the review process.
- Identify relevant published work that has not been cited.
- Inform the editor of any potential conflicts of interest.
- Refrain from reviewing manuscripts in which they have competing interests.
5. Publication Integrity
The journal strictly prohibits:
- Plagiarism and self-plagiarism
- Data fabrication and falsification
- Duplicate or redundant publication
- Citation manipulation
All submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection software to ensure originality.
6. Complaints and Appeals
Authors have the right to appeal editorial decisions. Complaints regarding ethical issues will be handled seriously, following standard procedures to ensure fairness and transparency.
7. Corrections and Retractions
The journal will publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, or apologies when necessary to maintain the integrity of the academic record.
