Author Guidelines

ICATT Journal of Islamic Studies, published by the Ikatan Cendekiawan Alumni Timur Tengah, welcomes high-quality manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of Islamic studies through critical and interdisciplinary approaches.

1. General Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration by any other journal.
  • Submissions should be written in clear and academic English.
  • The manuscript must align with the journal’s focus and scope.
  • Authors are fully responsible for the content, accuracy, and integrity of their work.
  • All submissions must comply with ethical standards in scholarly publishing.

2. Types of Manuscripts

The journal accepts:

  • Original Research Articles
  • Review Articles
  • Conceptual Papers

3. Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be prepared in the following structure:

  • Title: Clear and concise, reflecting the content of the paper.
  • Author(s) Information: Full name(s), affiliation(s), and email address(es).
  • Abstract: 150–250 words, written in English, summarizing the purpose, method, and findings.
  • Keywords: 3–5 keywords representing the main topics.
  • Introduction: Background, research problem, and objectives.
  • Literature Review: Relevant theories and previous studies.
  • Methodology: Research design, data collection, and analysis methods.
  • Results and Discussion: Findings and their interpretation.
  • Conclusion: Summary and implications of the study.
  • References: List of cited works.

4. Formatting Guidelines

  • Manuscripts should be 5,000–8,000 words in length.
  • Use A4 paper size with standard margins.
  • Font: Times New Roman, size 12; line spacing 1.5.
  • Use a consistent citation and referencing style (APA, Chicago, or another recognized style as specified by the journal).
  • All references must be cited in the text and vice versa.

5. Citation and References

  • Authors must ensure proper citation of all sources.
  • It is recommended to use reference management tools (e.g., Mendeley reference manager, Zotero reference manager).
  • References should primarily come from recent and relevant scholarly sources.

6. Plagiarism Policy

  • All manuscripts will be checked using plagiarism detection software.
  • The similarity index should not exceed 20–25%.
  • Manuscripts exceeding the threshold may be rejected or returned for revision.

7. Submission Process

  • Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online submission system (OJS).
  • Authors should ensure that all required metadata is completed during submission.
  • The journal does not charge any article processing fees (APC free).

8. Peer Review Process

  • All submissions undergo a double-blind peer-review process.
  • The review process typically takes 2–6 weeks.
  • Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts based on reviewers’ comments.

9. Copyright and Licensing

  • Authors retain copyright of their work.
  • The journal may apply an open-access license (e.g., Creative Commons) to allow wider dissemination.

10. Final Decision

  • The editor makes the final decision on acceptance, revision, or rejection based on reviewers’ recommendations and the manuscript’s quality.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
